Erica Hardy

Dr. Hardy is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology, in the Divisions of Obstetric Medicine and Infectious Disease at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She serves as the Director of the Division of Infectious Disease at Care New England health system and her primary clinical site is at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She graduated from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2002 and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Brown/Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital in 2006, and an Infectious Disease fellowship at Harvard/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2010. She has a Masters in Medical Science from Harvard Medical School in 2010. Her research interests include infectious disease in women, especially the peripartum period, sexually transmitted infections, and trauma-informed acute medical care and follow up of the sexual assault survivor. She is the director of the sexual assault follow up clinic at Women & Infants Hospital, which specializes in trauma informed medical care of the sexual assault survivor. She has ongoing research examining the vaginal mucosal immunology longitudinally after sexual assault as well as collaborating to develop a novel model of teaching trauma informed care of the sexual violence survivor.
